The 16th Street Station is making rental commitments for private uses through 2019.
With its soaring 40 foot ceilings, original marble floor, large arched windows in this historic Beaux Arts building, your imagination is the only limit to how the space can be transformed for your unique needs. Whether you are planning a wedding, a corporate party, a music video, a photo shoot, and musical performances, the 16th Street Station is the perfect canvas.
The Station has three distinct spaces, all included in the rental, each with its own special charm. The Main Hall’s 7,000 square foot space (60’ x 125’) can accommodate a large sit-down dinner, a great dance floor, or a runway for a fashion show. The large arched eastern windows allow light to stream in. The dramatic faux staircase is a built-in stage for a small band, DJ or wedding vows. The Main Hall needs hardly any decorative elements. This room can accommodate up to 500 attendees.
The Baggage Wing, the historic West Coast organizing home for the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first African American union in the country, has an industrial feel with brick walls, cement pillars, roll-up doors. The space has been used for receptions, coat check, and as a “green room.” The central room is 5,000 square feet with two smaller adjoining rooms. A mysterious walkway connects the Baggage Wing to the Main Hall.
Rear Under-Platform Area
The west side of the building offers a colorful, gritty, under-the-tracks look which connects to both the rear of the Main Hall and the rear of the Baggage Wing.
